Why Subscribe

The most obvious reason is to get rid of the ads. But another not so obvious reason is to support the concept of what we are doing, to agree with us that our content has value.

We live in a very commercialized world. With TV commercials at least you can walk out of the room, or TIVO the program and fast forward past the commercials. On the Internet, you are virtually forced to see ads, in front of, above, to the side of everything you are looking at. And the ads compete with the content. In fact, most ads pay more if the user clicks on them. Meaning that the sites with less interesting content can actually make more than sites with meaningful and engaging content. That's our problem. We don't like serving up ads for free.

When John McCain runs a banner on Brink and nobody clicks on it, McCain gets to run his ad for virtually free. This makes no sense.

We want the relationship between content and value to be a clean one. We offer plenty of value for your modest subscription. Not only do we give you members prices (up to 50% discount) in our store, we give you some serious space on our server. We want to be the place you trust to store your photos and videos - on the way to publishing them on MySpace or Facebook, even on the way to publishing them on Brink. We've all heard the stories about MySpace accounts being deleted in the middle of the night for containing controversial content. As long as your content is legal, that won't happen at Brink. In fact, you have our promise that we'll go further to protect your Internet rights than the monolithic corporation will. After all, we are The Brink.

Brink members are more interested in content and opinions than they are in building a huge network of people you barely know. Brink members get a powerful place to express opinions, a well designed home page, at a very simple URL, not cluttered with ads, and an extremely useful Brink "dashboard" to organize and contruct web pages than can be published virtually anywhere.
