It’s Don Imus in drag in “DÉJÀ VU ALL OVER AGAIN”. Randi Rhodes called Hillary a “F…n WHORE!” at an event for Air America Radio the other night. Evidently some of us didn’t already know Hillary was a whore, because Randi got suspended from her talk show. It was a totally failed attempt at coherence, but as Randi said about Michelle Obama’s remarks about for the first time being able to feel proud of her country, we all (well a lot of us anyway) know what she MEANT. If you want to weigh in on this write to:

To make it even stupider, the crowd thought “F…n WHORE!” was really brilliant stand up. It’s sad because Randi’s not stupid, she’s frustrated.
The Hillaryites, especially the intellectuals like Paul Krugman and Alan Colmes, are in the position of adults lecturing the adolescent Obama crowd on the need for experience (of taking money for favors?) that Barack doesn’t do enough on the economy (in spite of the fact maybe that’s all a President can actually DO) and his plan falls short of universal health care, meanwhile right opposite Krugman’s Jeramiad in the NYT is a case where you get universal health care at the price of it being cheapened and devalued by its own “success”. And then there’s Canada where everybody’s got it but people die waiting for service.

But nevermind that, someday when you’re older and wiser you’ll understand how even the sleaze factor is allowable. Like Muriel Hemingway said in “Manhattan”:
“Everybody gets corrupted. You gotta have faith in people.”
I know Woody Allen’s right about that intentional contradiction, but sometimes it still feels kinda sore. “She cheats! She lies!” Randi just kept screaming at one of these parental lecturers who called her on her talk show. That’s not ever going to work, but I can understand how it happens now and then. If they don’t get it that Billary’s reading from Rove’s playbook and lied about NAFTA and Bosnia, and Florida and Michigan, if they’re not going to get the sleaze factor after 8 years of Bill balancing the budget on the backs of the poor, then nothing means anything anymore. So scream or get depressed and drop out. The pardoning of fugitive billionaire Marc Rich which left AIM activist Leonard Peltier to rot in jail the rest of his life for a crime we may never know if he really commited, is just the tip of the iceberg. Over fifty percent of Bill’s pardons were in exchange for political or monetary favors. That would pretty much fit the definition of a Whore if there were sex involved….o wait! There was that little peccadillo he was disbarred for life for perjuring himself on the witness stand about, but that was just one in a…..Yeah, OK, that is a whore by any other name, (not that there’s anything WRONG with that) but Bill’s not Hill….even though they made a deal to pimp er I mean politick for each other, and made over a hundred mill together since leaving office…and he IS the main attack dog in her campaign….but that guilt by association stuff is only for the black guys and the people who can’t control their emotions. Let’s be adult about this.
As Colmes said,
“Just because somebody is inspiring, gives people hope, gets young people involved in politics doesn’t necessarily mean they should be president.”
No the presidency is only for some old style pol who makes us feel disillusioned and hopeless. THAT’S who I want for MY president!. Somebody who says she’s going to continue taking money from rich white guys like J. Mack of Morgan Stanley and lobbyists because,
“They represent real Americans.”
So Kissinger’s “economic imperative” can continue its good work, starting new wars and taking over more democratically elected administrations in the Third World.
And you people who want somebody who doesn’t owe those rich white guys favors because he gets all his money from people who DON’T represent real Americans because they happen to BE real Americans need to stop being so emotional and irrational. We need a woman in the White House who models herself on Rocky Balboa and thinks like Rambo: no dialogue with Cuba, N. Korea, or Iran, none of this prepwork for consensus building crap by the U.N., let’s go in there alone with guns blazing to protect our feminist values.
So how’s this sound? We seat Florida and Michigan and call it a fair fight even though all the Democratic candidates pledged not to campaign there, and ONE LIED on her affidavit and campaigned there anyway. And we call on a few old debts, twist a few arms with the superdelegates and voila! Hillary wins the nomination! Just like Chuck Schumer said
“For the sake of party unity, we might have to ignore the popular vote.”
Chuck baby, as Hillary might say in one of her thousand faces and voices, you can just forget about the party unity fantasy, unless Barack gets a sex change (and DING DING DING! TRIPLE BONUS VICTIM POINTS! Becomes the first LBGT and BLACK presidential candidate ever) and/or Hillary goes permanent Aunt Jemima blackface and gets the acting lessons from God she needed for that godawful
“I ain’t no way tired…” imitation of Fannie Lou Hammer she did for a black crowd in Atlanta. And it was that way in at least eight communities she visited, a different voice, and accent for each and each one phonier than artificial bull poop, so how does anything she says mean anything after THAT?…but.see there I go gettin all adolescent and emotional again.
Like the times I wish Barack wouldn’t be so big and all, and try to rise above the fray, and instead of saying Rev. Wright “is fair game” just haul off and pull a Frank Sinatra, make himself at home and HIT somebody. If Wright is fair game so is Rush Limbaugh’s suborning of perjury on party affiliation affidavits, and his “operation chaos” which is disenfranchising millions of voters. But if we must be so grand, we could use another speech like the race speech that, just as he said, addresses the real issues that concern us, the best exit strategy for Iraq; the economy and global warming. One speech will do it, because the three issues are inseparable. One more speech is desperately needed because raising people’s hopes incurs massive responsibilities.
So much hope has been raised among kids like in this video about a South Bronx High School:
http://my.barackobama.com/page/invite/yestheycan
and among much more articulate young people, male/female, mixed race & not, in college & out. I keep remembering Morgan Freeman's line from The Shawshank Redemption,
"Let me tell you something, hope is a very dangerous thing."
I also keep remembering we can't live without it. Even false hope, if it just keeps us alive, has an undeniable reality. But, for all that, hope still springs infernal, and I can't help wondering….
How bad will these kids feel and will they ever rise to hope again, the morning after a back room brokered convention, and after Limbaugh’s race- and poor white baiting, and Diebold's and Billary's dirty tricks, and Hannity and Levin and O'Reiley's character assassination and guilt by association prevented us from ever knowing what the will of an uninformed public WAS?
It's not how low we go it's how far we fall that hurts, and I know I got all I can do to worry about my own survival, much less these kids, but I couldn't bear to see their faces the morning after the rich white guys and party Pooh Bahs pull that stunt.
How do you give kids enough reality without scaring them to death, and how do you give them hope without setting them up for a fall? Obama can have a margin that seems unbeatable, but things change, and liars and cheaters have won before, like in recent history for instance in the so called “elections” of ’00 and ’04, and they can damn well do it again. As Johnny Cash said,
“I don’t like it, but I guess things happen that way, uh huh huh.”
Don’t forget the “uh huh huh” because sometimes that’s all you get.
I'm glad I'm not that teacher in the South Bronx, because I don't know if my fear of raising false hope would let me tell those kids that truth will out in the end, when history has shown the sleazebag players have almost always had all the power (so they got to write the history). I guess I’d tell them: hope for things you have a little control over, start with breathing and gradually move out from there. And O by the way, on behalf of all us responsible adults, I’d just like to say SORRY about screwing up your world and spending your inheritance. What were we thinking? Uh…something like, any minute here, I’m gonna get lucky and get my joy rocks off. Hope your hormone crazed brains can understand that.
But in Tucson, Arizona, the birds are singing this morning, and the mesquites have budded out. The prairie owls are sending their hoarse, machine like, “WHAA WHAAAAAT?!” from what’s left of their habitat to a world that knows exactly what they and the birds are saying, and why---to get their rocks off. Every living thing, in spite of all the history of human stupidity and corruption to the contrary, is trying desperately to be hopeful about something. And I’m right in there with them.
