"God Damn America" indeed, Mr. Wright, indeed. After a thousand cuts, the Inquisitional vetting has finally nicked an artery that will bleed Obama dry. A black preacher's words, taken not just out of context but without any, has finally put Obama where Clinton has always wanted him, another poor negro walking in the rain. Even without the surrounding text, I have yet to hear anything the preacher said that doesn't reflect a sad truth. Sontag's 911 apology notwithstanding, the "chickens coming home to roost" maxim has always had validity, not in a quid pro quo way but simply that innocent people die all the time and Americans are now no exception, sorry. The "no one ever called Hillary a nigger" line is brilliant in its riffing back to Muhammad Ali's Viet Cong riposte. "Rich white people control America?" Well, duh.
Oddly, all of Obama's security concerns have been misguided, since YouTube is now the preferred method of assassination. The blueprint is the murder of Howard Dean, not Bobby K. Congressmen can follow a Vatican that protects and abets child molesters, Presidents can call on an anti-Semite like Billy Graham to pursue salvation or sobriety, even enlightened reformed Mayors have little to say about an orthodox rabbi infecting infants with herpes while performing circumcisions, but have a black man raise his voice in protest and frustration and well, "get the rope boys, the next thing you know they'll want to go to Harvard and run for office... even argue with our womenfolk."
Obama need not worry. He is destined to become a great world citizen with or without the Presidency... there's no stopping this love train. But the Democratic party needs to understand that they are cutting their own throats this time, that the angry cries of hypocrisy and injustice will not just be heard on Sundays in the churches of Harlem, Watts and the South Side of Chicago, but in the desperate boardrooms of the Fortune 500 as well as the increasingly bare kitchens of Joe Six Pack. Reagan's "shining city on the hill" is fast becoming a retirement home for limousine liberals whose diapers and vitriol IV's are changed by Rush-loving Walmart rejects happy to be making 8 bucks an hour. This is America? Yep.
I guess my problem is I still give a shit. My kid is following this election like I followed McGovern back in 72. I still remember that feeling of helplessness when the returns came in, wasn't it obvious to everyone who Nixon really was? Well, it soon would be but at what price?... three decades of cynicism and indifference. Of course, this primary is more like 68, except unlike McCarthy, Hillary's tears kept her in the race, free to exhibit the Stockholm Syndrome with Penn and Wolfson morphing into Rove. Yes, you get the government you deserve, so the oligarchy continues, at least the Hispanics will be if not happy, then at least comfortable with the idea. As for me and mine, we keep our different colored passports out and ready, and no, I won't let the door hit me in the ass. Maybe Berlin?

I think it's about time Obama gets
the same rectal exam by the media
that every other presidential
candidate gets. Anything less would
be discrimination.

I don't think it really matters who
gets elected and there's not much
point in gettting excited about .
Sure, I prefer Obama, but chances
are that, after searing in, he'll
just take care of the people who
put him there.
America is a failed social
experiment. It's too late now. A
free society must give people
rights that many abuse. The guys
who provide the money to run these
campaigns, along with the lobbyists
they hire, have looted our national
resources, then mined the treasury
while we followed the moronic crap
you see on television and yahoo's
most popular searches.
America is going to drop to
her knees again. This time the
family farm is owned by
corporations who will not help
anyone but themselves. Many of the
looters will cut and run to places
where emerging economies offer more
opportunities to play monopoly
without regard for the well-being
of society. The hallmark of
humanity is greed.
Obama is only a slight hope,
but the fact common people have
stepped in to finance his campaign
is a bit promising. It depends on
who those people are. If it's just
black folk from around the country,
then we'll have a president that
serves the black population. I
guess that's ok because they've
often been left out of the festival
of looting that is the American
political and business scene

Reno, you mean like the NY Times
trying to dig up all the white
girls he sold coke to only to
proclaim that he must have
exaggerated his drug use since they
couldn't find any ghosts pregnant
and strung out? Damn!
Evanid, you've already drank
the Kool-Aid. It's only recently
that Obama has been dominating the
black vote and the most striking
part of his base are the white
"independents"... read
libertarians. As far as donations,
it is true that he's getting that
Dean grass roots 50 dollar pledge
but the Fortune 500 liked what they
saw when he did the rounds a year
or so ago... they're looking for
some serious re-branding of America
Inc. but of course will play ball
with anybody.
Lastly, it matters not at all
what Obama is "really
like" or who he is
"really for". What
matters is he is changing how
people view themselves and their
place in this "failed social
experiment". When the Obama
bubble bursts (and it will pop)
maybe America will finally have
made it out of a boisterous
adolescence and into some sort of
stable adulthood... well one can
hope, or is that just too
audacious?

Yeah you think they could have
hobbled something together. They're
real good at that sort of shit.
Talk about street cred. It could
have been Barack's way of being
jumped into Presidential politics.

Well, I've always liked cherry and
I think the Jones-Quench the
corporate cults in Beaverton and
Hillboro will soon be drinking is
grape.
One thing is certain, it's
not the Republican faith that will
get us out of the mess we're in. I
like the Libertarians for the
simple reason they seem to adhere
to some of the ideals the
Republicans claim to, like
government staying out of our lives
as much as possible (although there
is a place for laws and
regulations)
The war on drugs and
resulting incarcerations seem to
have turned into some sort of
twisted industry that drains
ridiculous amounts of resources
away from useful endeavors. As is
this fool's war. Any kid can
plainly see the hypocrisy of
marijuana being illegal while
alcohol causes far more social
problems.
No, it's not audacious to
hope that America can steer herself
off the course she's on. Let's see
if it happens. I hope so too
