BIOGRAPHY
avatarBorn in Portland, OR, brought to Cambridge, MA, by early 60s grad students and, following failed comps at Harvard, then on to St Louis, MO... Cardinals fan for life. Most schooling in suburban NJ, on championship soccer and wrestling teams - good, but others were better...

College, during the first four years of Reagan, just south of Philly - loved the film, Birdy... soccer playing, radio programming, odd-frat leading, topics in human sexuality teaching, bio major - sorta. Worked at Sloan-Kettering after 7- or 8-week bike trip in Scotland and failed employ for Mondale-Ferraro in Burlington County, NJ... started playing high quality - but not too high - open-division ultimate frisbee... worlds o' fun (except for Nationals in Houston, TX - that sucked)...

Grad school in Santa Cruz... heaven (more radio, ultimate, coffee, vegetables and beer). Met Jim and Bill, and Diane and Emmett and Chloe, and others. Followed D, E and C to Groton, MA - wrote my dissertation there (while sometimes coaching soccer and wrestling at Lawrence Academy).

A semester at Keene State, a year in Santa Cruz, a year at Guilford College, a buncha years at MSU (married D, we had A and S) and now CMU. Trained in Env'tal, Ag and Feminist Studies, I teach Intro, Political, SciTech, Pop Culture, Sport and Theory in Sociology and work with DF White (soon to arrive at RISD) on a post-structural and interdisciplinary approaches to environmental problems and thought.
